🔍 1. What is PageRank?
Before understanding PageRank, we first need to understand the concept of Indexing. Indexing is the process in which search engines recognize and store a website in their database. Essentially, a webpage must be indexed to appear in search results.

Once indexing is complete, PageRank is determined, which ranks web pages based on their importance. PageRank plays a key role in deciding the order of search results.
Although we cannot directly check a webpage’s PageRank, Google’s official documentation confirms that it is determined through various factors, including:
✅ Key Factors for PageRank Evaluation
Backlinks: Whether the website’s links or brand are mentioned elsewhere.
Quality of Links: Whether the links come from authoritative and trustworthy sources.
Internal Linking Structure: Whether internal page connections are well-structured.
Content Quality: Whether the page provides useful and reliable information.
User Experience (UX): Factors like page speed and mobile-friendliness.
etc
To get better search rankings, PageRank is crucial. But does PageRank only affect search rankings, or does it also impact other areas like indexing speed? To answer this, we conducted a test.
✨ 2. How Does PageRank Affect Indexing?
Before the test, we hypothesized that PageRank affects Indexing Speed for the following reasons
💡 1) Higher PageRank = Higher Trust & Expertise
Search engines prioritize indexing authoritative websites. If a website has already gained credibility, its content is likely to be indexed faster.
💡 2) Well-Structured Internal Links Help Indexing
With millions of pages online, search engines face challenges in indexing them efficiently. A well-structured internal link system (a key PageRank factor) helps search engines crawl pages more smoothly, speeding up indexing.
💡 3) More Backlinks = Faster Indexing
Pages with higher PageRank tend to have more backlinks, making them appear more trustworthy and widely referenced. As a result, search engines prioritize their indexing.
🔬 3. Testing PageRank’s Impact on Indexing
We conducted an experiment to directly verify the effect of PageRank on indexing speed.
✅ Test Setup:
Content | Indexed on AMA? | Indexed on Flexwork? |
오픽 공부 방법: 대학 졸업을 앞둔 취준생을 위한 실전 가이드 | ❌ (Not Indexed) | ✅ (Indexed) |
️ 비행기표 저렴하게 사는 법 – 항공권 싸게 예매하는 7가지 꿀팁! | ❌ (Not Indexed) | ✅ (Indexed) |
Websites Used for Testing:
🔹 Flexwork (High PageRank)
Description: A remote hiring platform connecting companies with global talent.
Traffic: 20,000+ visitors
Established: Since 2020
🔹 AMA (Low PageRank)
Description: A marketing agency platform providing AI-driven ad analysis and consulting.
Traffic: ~30 visitors
Established: Since 2025
✅ Test Method:
The same content was posted simultaneously on both websites.
Google Search Console was used to track indexing.
✅ Test Results:
Pages on Flexwork (high PageRank) were indexed significantly faster.
AMA Pages submitted indexing manually.
AMA’s pages were not indexed quickly, taking at least 3 weeks longer.
✅ Key Observation:

The "7 Tips to Book Cheap Flights" article was indexed on Flexwork but not on AMA, despite AMA generating 111+ visits via ads compared to only 20 visits on Flexwork.
This suggests that traffic volume alone does not guarantee faster indexing—PageRank is a more significant factor.
🏁 Conclusion
📌 Higher PageRank leads to faster indexing.
Websites with higher PageRank get crawled more frequently and are prioritized in indexing.
This confirms that search engines use PageRank as a measure of trust and importance.
📌 To speed up indexing, improving PageRank is essential.
Strategies include building high-quality backlinks and linking to authoritative websites.
📌 Traffic alone does not directly impact indexing speed.
While higher traffic might help over time, PageRank plays a more crucial role.
📌 Depending on your purpose, such as sharing your knowledge and experience and creating content for your career or building and operating a service, you need to think carefully about where to write.
